The main feature of the museum is its unique mini-city concept. Here, children aged one to twelve can take on the roles of doctors, mail carriers, or shopkeepers, mastering important social skills in a safe and friendly environment. Every zone is thoughtfully designed to spark children's curiosity and a creative approach to the world around them.

Occupying the bright and spacious premises of the former City Hall, Fascinate-U offers more than just looking at exhibits; it offers full immersion. This is a place where everything can and should be touched, experimented with, and interacted with, making it one of the region's most popular attractions for family vacations.

What to Do

The main activity at the museum focuses on role-playing games. Children can head to an improvised grocery store, work at a "TV studio," or try on a firefighter's uniform. All exhibits are designed for active interaction: they can be moved, turned, and used to create original play scenarios.

Special attention is given to STEAM programs, which combine science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. In the science center on the second floor, young visitors are introduced to the basics of astronomy, biology, and physics. Simple and clear experiments help even the youngest guests understand complex natural phenomena.

There are sensory zones for toddlers, while older children can dive deeper into studying mechanics and modern systems. Throughout the year, the museum hosts science workshops and special educational events, making every visit unique and beneficial for a child's development.

History & Facts

The history of this wonderful place began in 1992, when two proactive young mothers proposed creating a space for child development. The idea was enthusiastically received by the Friends of the Parks Foundation, and by January 1994, the museum opened its doors for the first time at the Tokay Park recreation center.

A landmark stage in the museum's life was 1998, when a large-scale exhibition called Dinamania, featuring massive robotic dinosaurs, was organized in the PuttPutt building. After this triumph, the museum finally moved to its current location, which formerly housed the city's old City Hall.

In early 1999, the grand opening took place at the new location following a major renovation costing $600,000. The design of the new exhibits was developed by a well-known firm from Charlotte, turning the former administrative halls into a bright and safe mini-city. Later, the museum expanded to the second floor, opening a modern science center.

Time Needed

To allow a child to play to their heart's content and explore all the themed zones, it is recommended to set aside 2–3 hours for the visit. This is usually enough time to try out different professions and check out the interactive displays.

If your children show a particular interest in science experiments or if you plan to participate in one of the STEAM educational programs, your visit might last half a day. The museum is designed so that time flies by for both little ones and their parents.
