Fitness equipment is installed along the path, making it easy to turn a walk into a full outdoor workout.

Families with children will appreciate the modern play areas with safe surfacing and various swings. After active play, you can enjoy lunch in one of the barbecue zones or relax under a canopy in the picnic area. History & Facts

The history of this site began in 1982, when it was officially opened as a neighborhood park for the residents of the rapidly developing southeast of the city. Situated in a residential area that grew from the late 1970s through the early 2000s, the park quickly became the primary hub for family recreation in the district.

Interestingly, the park's sports infrastructure remained largely unchanged for a long time until the city authorities initiated a major renovation in the 2024–2025 fiscal year. Approximately $789,000 from residential construction tax funds was allocated to upgrade the courts and facilities. The project was carried out by West Coast Paving, Inc., breathing new life into facilities that had worn down over the decades.

The renovated complex was officially inaugurated on November 15, 2025. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by City Council member Miguel Martinez. During the work, the tennis court surfaces were not only replaced but also adapted for the popular game of pickleball, while the basketball court was expanded to full size and equipped with modern sun shades.

Over the years, Mira Loma Park has evolved from a simple green space into a high-tech athletic environment. Today, it stands as a model of how aging municipal facilities can be transformed into modern recreational zones that are accessible to all citizens.

Time Needed

To simply take a walk around the grounds and enjoy the views, you will need about 1 hour. This is plenty of time to cover the 1.9 km loop trail and take some beautiful photos at Boynton Slough.

If you plan to play sports—such as tennis, pickleball, or basketball—or are visiting the playgrounds with children, it is worth setting aside 2–3 hours. For larger groups planning a barbecue in one of the covered gazebos, the park can easily become a half-day destination.

Working Hours

Mira Loma Park is welcomingly open to visitors daily. You can plan your visit for an early morning run or an evening relaxation session after a hot day.

The operating schedule is the same for every day of the week, including weekends and holidays: from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This schedule allows visitors to take full advantage of all sports courts and recreation areas during both daylight and evening hours (thanks to the presence of lighting in key areas).
