Cove Island is a scenic 83-acre park and beach area located in the city of Stamford, USA. This peninsula, washed by the waters of the Long Island Sound, is considered one of the most popular spots for family recreation in Connecticut. It harmoniously combines well-maintained sandy beaches, rocky shores, and shady walking trails.
\n\nThe park is famous not only for its recreational opportunities but also for its important ecological role. Its grounds include a Wildlife Sanctuary (for birds and butterflies), recognized by the Audubon organization as an important bird area. For nature lovers, it is a true oasis where rare bird species can be found among the city's last remaining sand dunes.
\n\nOf particular value is the SoundWaters educational center, located right in the park. It features a small aquarium where children and adults can get to know the Sound's inhabitants in special "touch tanks." Also on the grounds is a moving memorial dedicated to the victims of the September 11 events in Stamford.
