Overview

The climate in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, is characterized as tropical monsoon, with distinct seasons. Overall, it is warm or hot for most of the year; however, there are noticeable temperature fluctuations between the summer and winter months, distinguishing it from an equatorial climate with stable year-round heat.

Thai Nguyen has two clearly defined main seasons. The dry season usually lasts from approximately November to April. During this period, the weather is cooler, especially from December to February, when average temperatures hover around 16-18°C and rainfall is minimal. From May to October, the wet season arrives, bringing high temperatures (averaging 27-29°C, with maximums regularly exceeding 30°C) and a significant increase in precipitation. Rainfall peaks during the summer months, particularly in August, which sees the highest number of rainy days.

Temperature

Annual temperature trends in Thai Nguyen are characterized by significant variations. Traditionally, the hottest months are June and July, when average daytime temperatures reach 29.0°C and 28.9°C respectively, with maximum values regularly rising above 32°C. The city of Thai Nguyen experiences a pronounced change in precipitation seasons, which is typical for Vietnam's climate. The year can be clearly divided into wet and relatively dry periods. Understanding these climate features will help you better prepare for your trip.

The rainy season in Thai Nguyen usually lasts from May to September, reaching its peak in August. This is the wettest month: the average precipitation is 13 mm, and the number of rainy days reaches 27, meaning it rains almost daily.
