The climate in Xinyi is a subtropical monsoon type, which results in distinct seasonality and high humidity throughout most of the year. Travelers should be prepared for long, hot, and sometimes muggy summers, which give way to short and pleasantly cool winters. The shoulder seasons — spring and autumn — are considered the most favorable times to visit. During these periods, the exhausting summer humidity recedes and the likelihood of prolonged rain decreases, creating ideal conditions for sightseeing and walking. Winter in the region is mild and mostly clear, though noticeable nighttime temperature drops can occur in January and February.

The temperature in Xinyi is characterized by hot summers and mild, invigorating winters. Due to high humidity, the heat during these months can feel more intense than in regions with a dry climate.

Winter months, including December and January, bring a welcome freshness. The average daytime temperature during this period is about +15...+19 °C, which is ideal for active tourism. However, one should account for significant daily fluctuations: at night, the mercury can drop to +9...+10 °C, creating a noticeable contrast with the warm, sunny day.

This time of year is considered the most balanced, as the extreme heat has either not yet arrived or has already receded, and nighttime temperatures remain moderate.

Precipitation in Xinyi occurs throughout the year, primarily in the form of rain. Due to its warm subtropical location, snow is exceptionally rare here. The bulk of the moisture falls during the summer rainy season, lasting from May to September, when the city is under the influence of wet oceanic monsoons.

August is considered the "wettest" month, when the number of rainy days can reach 27 per month, and downpours become a daily occurrence. June and July also see high precipitation levels (over 220–260 mm), often accompanied by heavy cloud cover and high humidity reaching 80%.

Conversely, the period from October to February is considered the dry season. During this time, precipitation is minimal, especially in December and January. The sky is more likely to remain clear, and any rain that does occur is usually brief and light, making late autumn and winter an excellent time for those who prefer to avoid overcast weather.

For a trip to Xinyi during the summer (June to September), your wardrobe should primarily consist of lightweight clothing made from natural, breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. Due to high solar activity, be sure to pack sunscreen with a high SPF, a hat, and sunglasses. Given the frequency of sudden downpours, a compact umbrella or a quality raincoat will be your faithful companions.

A winter visit (December–February) calls for layering. Daytime temperatures around +17 °C allow for walking in light sweaters; however, for evenings when the air cools to +9...+10 °C, you will need jackets, trousers, and scarves. If you plan excursions to mountain areas where fog and high humidity are common, make sure to bring comfortable, closed-toe shoes with good grip.

Regardless of the season, it is always useful to have a portable fan (in summer) and insect repellent in your backpack. For long city walks, well-worn athletic shoes are best, as the terrain can be uneven.
