Guigang

The climate in Guigang is of a subtropical monsoon type, which determines the weather patterns in this region of China throughout the year. The city is characterized by pronounced seasonality with long, hot, and very humid summers, as well as short but noticeably cool winters. Thanks to its location in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, warm conditions persist here, promoting lush vegetation and a year-round growing season.

The winter period in this part of China, spanning January and February, is characterized by moderate coolness. Interestingly, in transitional months like March, sharp temperature fluctuations are possible: it can be summer-hot during the day, while by night the temperature can drop significantly, which is worth considering when planning evening walks.

Precipitation in Guigang occurs throughout the year, but its distribution is extremely uneven. The city is influenced by a humid subtropical climate, which results in a clearly defined rainy season lasting from May to October. The wettest time is considered to be the period from June to August, when the city is hit by frequent and heavy downpours. During these months, the number of rainy days can reach 20–25 per month, making an umbrella an essential accessory.

Winter in this part of China is significantly drier. The lowest rainfall is recorded in December and February, when the weather becomes predominantly clear. Snow is an extremely rare and unlikely occurrence here. It is also worth noting that from April to June, Guigang often experiences fogs, which give the local landscapes a special, mysterious atmosphere.

When packing your suitcase for Guigang, focus primarily on the season and the region's high humidity. For a summer visit (from May to October), light, "breathable" clothing made of natural fabrics such as cotton or linen is the ideal choice. Be sure to bring sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunscreen with a high SPF (50+) factor to protect yourself from the intense subtropical sun. Given the frequent rainfall, a high-quality umbrella or a compact raincoat should always be close at hand.

Despite the mild climate, evenings in Guigang can be cool, so a light jacket, sweater, and closed shoes will be very useful.
