Current Weather

Planning a visit to Heshan? Here you will find the most up-to-date information on current weather conditions and detailed forecasts for your trip through China.

Overview

Heshan, located in the southern province of Guangdong, is under the influence of a subtropical monsoon climate. This means that for most of the year, warm and humid weather prevails in this part of China. The city is characterized by distinct seasonality, ranging from sweltering, rainy summers to mild and relatively dry winters.

The most comfortable periods for a trip are spring and autumn, when air temperatures remain moderate and the sky often clears. The summer months can be challenging due to high humidity and frequent rainfall, while winters bring a pleasant freshness and clear days, ideal for walking and discovering the local flavor.

Temperature

Temperature patterns in Heshan change significantly throughout the year. The hottest period is July and August, when daytime highs consistently stay around +32°C. Due to the subtropical humidity, these temperatures feel significantly higher, creating a "sauna" effect that persists even into the evening hours, when the thermometer rarely drops below +25°C.

The winter period (December-January) brings long-awaited freshness and mild warmth. Average daytime temperatures are a comfortable +19°C...+20°C, but nights can be quite cool—the air cools down to +9°C...+11°C. Sharp temperature fluctuations are rare at this time, but due to high humidity, even a small drop in temperature can be felt more acutely.

Spring and autumn are characterized by the most pleasant conditions for tourism. In March and April, the air warms up to +20°C...+26°C, while October and November delight with steady warmth in the range of +21°C...+27°C. During these transitional months, daily temperature fluctuations become more noticeable, which should be taken into account when planning long excursions.

Precipitation

Precipitation in Heshan is distributed very unevenly, following the rhythms of seasonal monsoons. The main rainy season occurs between May and September. Humidity usually peaks in June, when the city receives more than 320 mm of rainfall and the number of rainy days reaches 23 per month. This time is characterized by powerful downpours and thunderstorms, which bring temporary relief from the heat.

In contrast, the winter months are remarkably dry. The driest period is December, with only about 3 rainy days recorded. During this time, the sky most often remains clear, and rare precipitation falls as a light, quick-passing drizzle, making winter an excellent time for outdoor sightseeing.

Transitional seasons, such as spring (March-April), are marked by variable cloudiness and a gradual increase in the frequency of rain. During this period, humidity begins to rise, and fog becomes a frequent occurrence in the morning hours. Travelers should remember that even in relatively "dry" months, an umbrella remains a necessary accessory in the southern provinces.

Packing Tips

When packing for Heshan, it is important to consider the region's high humidity. In summer (from May to September), the basis of your wardrobe should be clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Be sure to bring a reliable umbrella or a light raincoat, as well as sunglasses and sunscreen with high SPF to protect yourself from intense UV radiation.

For a winter trip (December-February), the principle of layering will come in handy. Although freezing temperatures are a rarity here, night temperatures can drop to +9°C, so a light jacket, windbreaker, and a warm sweater will be very useful. Given the lack of central heating in many buildings in southern China, warm sleepwear may also prove helpful.

Regardless of the season, make sure to bring comfortable shoes for long walks. If your trip falls during the summer period, choose footwear that dries quickly or has water-repellent properties. We also recommend having a light sweater or scarf for indoors and transport, where air conditioning is often running at maximum power.
