p>The history of the area where Mariánky Ski Resort welcomes guests today dates back to the distant past. This region became famous as early as the 13th century when the monks of the Teplá Monastery discovered the first healing springs here. Later, in 1528, King Ferdinand I took an interest in the local waters, ordering a study of their medicinal salt content.
The systematic development of the town as a spa center began in the late 18th century, thanks to the work of Dr. Jan Josef Nehr. In 1805, the first spa building, named "The Golden Ball", appeared near the Cross Spring. The settlement received official public spa status in 1818, and half a century later, Emperor Franz Joseph I granted it city status.
The town's "Golden Era" occurred between 1870 and 1914. During this time, world celebrities visited, including composers Frédéric Chopin and Richard Wagner, as well as King Edward VII of England. The city's architectural appearance, with its magnificent colonnades and hotels, was shaped under the influence of the best masters of Classicism.
The ski center itself appeared much later, becoming a harmonious addition to centuries-old wellness traditions. Today, it combines the historic charm of a famous spa resort with modern opportunities for active winter recreation, offering tourists a unique travel format.
