What to Do

The main activity at Zauberberg is attending live concerts. Here, you can see performances by both promising local bands and more established artists. The energetic atmosphere of the hall encourages guests to fully immerse themselves in the music: visitors enjoy dancing by the stage, socializing, and taking in the professional light show. Of particular interest are the summer evenings when events move to the open-air area under the stars.

Besides listening to music, you can have a great time at the club's bar, ordering signature or classic drinks. The venue's interior and the stage with its professional sound provide a perfect backdrop for memorable photos. Occasionally, special broadcasts or meet-and-greets with musicians are held, giving guests the opportunity to feel like part of the creative life of Passau.

Getting There

You can reach the Zauberberg club, located at Franz-Stockbauer-Weg 1, in several convenient ways. If you prefer to drive, the trip from the city center takes about 10–15 minutes, and parking is available near the venue. For those arriving from other regions by train, it is most convenient to arrive at the main station, Passau Hbf, from where you can take a taxi or bus for a 15–20 minute ride.

Public transport is also an accessible option: suitable bus routes run to the stop in the Passau-Sportpark area, from which it is about a 5–10 minute walk. During the warmer months, many people choose to cycle — the ride from the center of Passau takes about 30–40 minutes and allows you to enjoy the local atmosphere.

History & Facts

The history of Zauberberg began in late 2015 when a group of music enthusiasts decided to create a space for the development of live music culture in the city. A suitable location was found in February of that year, and by October, after signing the lease, the club welcomed its first guests.

The very first year of operation proved to be a massive success: 88 concert nights were held, featuring more than 150 musical acts. Over time, the venue transformed into a non-profit company (gGmbH), solidifying its status as an important cultural center focused on supporting talent rather than making a profit.

A significant milestone in the club's history was the first report by the Bayerischer Rundfunk broadcasting company, filmed at its open-air venue. This event finally established Zauberberg as one of the most significant and iconic music spots in the region.

Time Needed

When planning an evening at Zauberberg, it is worth considering the duration of the specific musical event. Usually, a full concert visit requires 4 to 6 hours. This includes arriving an hour before the start, the performance itself, which lasts an average of 2–4 hours, and time for drinks and relaxation after the show ends.

If you only plan to attend one set by a specific artist or drop by for a themed party, 3 hours might be quite enough. In any case, the venue's high-energy atmosphere often makes guests stay until closing time.

Working Hours

The operating schedule of Zauberberg is mainly focused on evenings and weekends. Standard guest hours are: Thursday from 19:00 to 02:00, Friday and Saturday from 19:00 to 03:00. The club is usually closed from Sunday to Wednesday, except for dates of special events.

Since the schedule depends directly on the concert lineup, guests are strongly advised to check the information on the club's official website. Door opening times may change depending on the performance program of specific bands.
