This is not just a place for swimming, but an entire holiday ecosystem. The beach is integrated with the legendary Batumi Boulevard, where you can hide from the midday heat in the shade of palms, magnolias, and bamboo groves. Here you will find everything you need for comfort: from convenient sun loungers and umbrellas to shower cabins and gentle slopes into the water, making it an excellent choice for family vacations.

A 4.5-star rating confirms its popularity. Guests are attracted by the amazing combination of the sea's vastness and picturesque recreation areas with fountains, sculptures, and cozy benches. Batumi Beach is the resort's calling card, where the sound of the surf harmoniously complements the rhythm of modern life.

What to Do

The best way to start your day at Batumi Beach is with some active recreation: there are excellent cycling paths here, where it is pleasant to breeze along the water's edge. Water sports enthusiasts can rent jet skis or enjoy the rides, while those who prefer tranquility will appreciate the convenience of the pebble shore for sunbathing.

A walk along the promenade is a pleasure in itself. Be sure to reach the famous Miracle Park, where the legendary moving sculpture “Ali and Nino” is installed. Don't forget to stop by the old lighthouse built in 1882 and take a photo against the backdrop of the city's futuristic towers. In the evening, the embankment is transformed: mesmerizing dancing fountain shows begin here, accompanied by music and light.

If you get hungry, dozens of coastal cafes and restaurants are at your service. This is the perfect place to try Adjarian khachapuri while admiring the sunset. Families with children will appreciate the abundance of playgrounds and picnic areas, while nightlife lovers will find many open-air venues with pleasant music.

Getting There

Finding Batumi Beach is easy, as it stretches along the entire central part of the city. Most tourists staying in the center prefer to get here on foot, enjoying the sea breeze and views of modern architecture.

If you are arriving from Batumi Airport, which is only 5 km away, it is most convenient to use a taxi (the trip will take about 10–15 minutes and cost 10–20 GEL) or minibus No. 10a. For those traveling from Tbilisi, the end point will be the railway station or the bus station, from where you can reach the promenade by local bus or walk in 15–20 minutes.

For moving along the coastline itself, bicycles and electric scooters are ideal, with rental points located at every turn. There are also organized parking zones along the promenade for those who prefer to travel by private or rental car.

History & Facts

The history of the coast where Batumi Beach lies today dates back to ancient times. As far back as the 8th–7th centuries BC, settlements existed here, and the ancient Greeks called this place “Batus”, which translates to “deep harbor.” This name emphasized the uniqueness of the local bay, which for centuries served as an important maritime hub in Georgia.

The modern appearance of the coastal zone began to take shape in 1881, when the construction of the famous Batumi Boulevard commenced. Renowned Prussian and French gardeners contributed to its creation, bringing in exotic plants, magnolias, and palms. In 1882, a historical lighthouse was erected on the waterfront, which remains one of the few witnesses of that era today.

During the Soviet period, especially in the 1930s, the promenade was decorated with snow-white Greek-style colonnades, and in the 1970s, the first light and music fountain in the USSR appeared here. This turned the city into one of the most prestigious resorts on the Black Sea.

The recent history of the beach zone began in the 21st century. Since 2010, modern art objects have appeared here, such as the famous moving statue “Ali and Nino”, along with new sections of the promenade, turning the coastline into a modern world-class space that combines historical heritage and futuristic design.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the atmosphere of this place, we recommend allowing 3 to 5 hours for your visit. This time is enough not only to sunbathe and swim in the clear waters of the Black Sea but also to take a leisurely stroll along the adjacent boulevard.

If you plan to explore the main art objects, have lunch at one of the seaside cafes, and perhaps ride the Ferris wheel, your visit could extend to a full day. The evening should be set aside separately to see the magical fountain show and the illumination of modern installations.

Working Hours

Batumi Beach is hospitably open to visitors 24 hours a day (Open 24 hours). This allows guests of the city to enjoy the seashore at any time: whether it's early dawn for yoga on the beach or a late evening promenade under the lights of the embankment.

The official weekly schedule confirms the location's 24/7 accessibility from Monday to Sunday. However, it is worth considering that equipment rental points, cafes, and attractions usually operate from morning until late evening.
