At the entrance to the harbor of the charming town of Lindau, guests are greeted by one of the region's most recognizable symbols—the majestic Bavarian Lion. This monumental sculpture, carved from light sandstone, proudly gazes over the waters of Lake Constance, embodying the strength and dignity of the land where it stands.

Erected in 1856 by the talented sculptor Johann von Halbig, the six-meter monument weighs approximately 50 tons. The lion sits on a massive three-tier pedestal and, together with the New Lighthouse located opposite, forms one of the most beautiful harbor ensembles in all of Europe. For Germany, this landmark is an important historical testament to the city's connection with the Bavarian Crown.
Today, the Bavarian Lion is more than just an architectural monument; it is the heart of Lindau’s tourist life. It serves as a landmark for sailors, a perfect backdrop for photographs, and a place where the unbreakable bond between history and the nature of Lake Constance is felt.
