History & Facts

The history of Hotel Kaiserhof Münster began back in 1895, when Oskar Försterling erected a building that became a landmark for the city's architecture. In the early 20th century, the hotel gained widespread fame through the efforts of its tenant, Konrad Thierling. In those days, social life here was in full swing: there was a concert cafe with its own orchestra, an outdoor dance floor, and a cozy summer garden, while the popular "Tunnel" pub was located in the basement.

The mid-20th century brought significant changes, but the dedication to the craft allowed the hotel to be restored and expanded. Between 1945 and the 1950s, staff and new owners brought the building back to life step by step, adding five floors and opening a restaurant, though a modern parking lot appeared in place of the former garden.

Truly royal stories are also associated with the hotel. In the mid-1960s, King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia stayed here with his large entourage. As a token of gratitude for the hospitality, the monarch presented the owner with valuable gifts—a saber and a dagger inlaid with gold and precious stones. These relics were kept at the hotel for many decades and were only returned to the royal family in 2002.

The hotel's modern appearance is the result of an extensive renovation that began in 1999 when management passed to the Cremer family. Over the course of ten years, the rooms, spa area, and restaurants were modernized. Today, the hotel is managed by Anja and Kay Fenneberg, who carefully preserve its historical heritage while integrating advanced standards of comfort and service.

Time Needed

For those who want to fully experience the hospitality of the Kaiserhof, we recommend dedicating at least half a day. This is enough time to relax in the Kaiserhof Spa, visit the sauna, and enjoy a fine dinner at Gabriel's restaurant. If your goal is a deep acquaintance with the city, the hotel serves as an ideal base for a 1–2 night stay.

Working Hours

As a high-class hotel, Kaiserhof Münster welcomes guests and provides access to rooms 24 hours a day. The reception desk operates 24/7, allowing you to plan your arrival at any time convenient for you.
