The majestic Elephant Tower (Torre dell'Elefante) is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city of Cagliari, located on the sunny island of Sardinia in Italy. Built in 1307, this medieval citadel made of sparkling white limestone once served as a key element of the city's defenses against pirate raids and enemy fleets.
The tower's design is unique: it stands 42 meters high, with three of its four sides protected by massive walls up to three meters thick. The fourth side, facing the city interior, remains open, revealing four floors of wooden galleries. The monument earned its name from the charming yet formidable elephant figurine mounted on one of its facades.

Today, the tower is more than just a historical monument; it serves as the main gateway to the ancient Castello district. It attracts architecture and history enthusiasts eager to experience the legacy of Pisan masters and see one of the few surviving examples of early 14th-century fortification art.
