About

Imagine the chance to gaze upon the picturesque shores of Sardinia from a bird's-eye view. This is exactly the experience offered by the Ferris Wheel in Olbia — a modern symbol of the city known as La Maestosa. This grand attraction, located in the heart of the port area, became the first structure of its kind in the region when it opened its doors to guests in 2019.

What to Do

The main experience awaiting visitors is, without a doubt, the panoramic view. During the ride, the wheel makes several full rotations, allowing for a detailed look at the historical center, the bustling port area, and the endless expanse of the sea. To make your experience as informative as possible, the cabins are equipped with multilingual audio guides that share stories about the main architectural monuments visible from above.

For those seeking extra comfort, VIP cabins are available. Here, guests are offered bar services, allowing them to enjoy the views with a glass of a refreshing drink. Pleasant background music inside the cabins complements the visuals, creating an atmosphere of coziness and celebration.

Visiting the attraction is equally popular with families with children and couples. In the evening, when the city lights up, the ride on the wheel turns into a romantic adventure. Don't forget to bring your camera — the views from the top will be a great addition to your collection of travel photos.

Getting There

Finding this majestic structure is easy: it is located in the historical part of the city at Via Principe Umberto, 9. Due to its central location in the port area, the Ferris wheel is within walking distance of the main tourist routes. A walk from the city center takes just a few minutes, making it a great point to conclude an evening promenade.

For those who prefer to travel by car, parking spaces are available in the port area and adjacent neighborhoods. If you are coming from other regions, Olbia offers a well-developed network of bus and rail connections. Travelers arriving by air will also find it convenient: the Costa Smeralda airport is only 4 km from the attraction and can be reached by taxi or city bus.

History & Facts

Its proud name, La Maestosa (which means "Majestic" in Italian), was not chosen by chance. It was officially opened on August 1, 2019, becoming the first and only structure of its kind in all of Sardinia. This project was an important step in modernizing the port area and strengthening the city's tourism status.

The attraction's technical equipment meets the strictest international safety standards. One of the most impressive features of the structure is the innovative lighting system, consisting of 6,000 LED light sources. This allows for the creation of dynamic light shows that transform the look of the waterfront after dark.

The arrival of La Maestosa turned an ordinary port area into a modern public space. The wheel quickly became an iconic landmark and a favorite spot for photos, symbolizing the harmonious blend of technical progress and the city's historical charm.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the attraction, visitors usually need between 30 minutes and one hour. This is enough time for a standard ride, which includes three full rotations of the wheel, allowing you to take in the panorama without any rush.

Keep in mind that queues may form during the high tourist season or in the evening hours. If you plan to use the VIP services or simply want to admire the sunset from above for longer, we recommend setting aside a bit more time for your visit.

Working Hours

The attraction welcomes guests daily, following a convenient schedule that allows you to enjoy the views both in daylight and under the starlit sky. Please note the afternoon break, which is typical for many establishments in the region.

Opening hours:
Monday – Sunday: 10:30 – 13:00 and 16:30 – 00:00.

This schedule makes the wheel an excellent option for evening relaxation after completing your main sightseeing program or having dinner in the city.
