The Sakurai Futamigaura Couple Stones (桜井二見ヶ浦) is a stunning natural landmark located in the north of Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture, within the Genkai Quasi-National Park in Japan. The main highlight of this place is two majestic rocks, known as "Meoto Iwa" (Couple Stones or Wedded Rocks), which rise proudly from the sea waters about 150 meters from the coast.

These rocks are not just a picturesque element of the landscape; they carry a deep sacred meaning, symbolizing the divine married couple from Shinto mythology – Izanagi and Izanami. It is believed that these deities created the Japanese islands and are the parents of many Japanese gods. The rocks are connected by a sacred straw rope called a shimenawa, and in front of them stands a snow-white torii gate, built in 1968, which marks the entrance to the sacred territory.
Sakurai Futamigaura is also known as "Sunset Futamigaura" due to the incredibly beautiful sunsets when the sun slowly descends into the Genkai Sea, creating a truly magical sight. This site is part of the Sakurai Shrine and is recognized as a prefectural cultural asset. The combination of natural beauty, ancient myths, and spiritual atmosphere attracts many tourists and photographers wishing to touch the unique heritage of Japan and capture unforgettable moments.
