Although the way of life changed after the Second World War, Smiltynė has managed to preserve its unique architectural character and the spirit of an old Baltic resort. Today, historical buildings and authentic fisherman houses harmoniously coexist with the untouched nature of the national park.

To simply enjoy the sea and sunbathe on Smiltynė Beach, you should set aside at least 3–4 hours. This is enough time to take the ferry without rushing, walk through the forest, and spend a few pleasant hours by the water.

However, if you plan a full exploration of the Curonian Spit, including a visit to the dolphinarium, the sea museum, and walks along forest eco-trails, it is better to reserve a full day (from 6 to 8 hours). Such immersion in the local nature and culture will leave much more vivid impressions.
