Imagine a place where rugged military history meets the serenity of nature and modern art. Citadel Park (Fort Winiary) is the largest urban park in the city of Poznań and stands as one of the most significant historical sites that Poland is proud of. Located on an elevation, this park was once Europe's most powerful artillery fort, but today it serves as the city's main "green heart."

Covering an area of about 100 hectares, the Citadel offers visitors a unique landscape: here, remnants of ancient fortifications sit alongside manicured alleys and bright flowerbeds. A special charm is added to the park by the rose garden and over a hundred original modern sculptures scattered throughout the territory, turning an ordinary walk into a visit to an open-air museum.
In 2008, the park was officially granted the status of a historical monument. Besides its natural beauty, it houses branches of the Wielkopolska Museum of Independence—the Museum of Armaments and the Museum of the Poznań Army—as well as memorial zones and cemeteries. It's an ideal space for those seeking inspiration, interested in machinery, or simply wanting to escape the city bustle in the shade of century-old trees.
