The 1,300 square meter complex is hidden within the mountain at an altitude of 3,048 meters above sea level. Its brutalist concrete architecture fits harmoniously into the surrounding mountain landscape, creating the atmosphere of a villain's secret hideout. Inside the building, a cool temperature is intentionally maintained so that visitors can physically feel the harsh but alluring high-alpine atmosphere.

The installation focuses on the technology, drama, and aesthetics of the 007 films. There are no dusty display cases here — instead, guests are treated to immersive soundscapes, projections, and interactive elements that allow them to feel like part of the legendary franchise.

What to Do

A visit to "007 ELEMENTS" is a journey through a series of galleries, each dedicated to a specific aspect of making Bond films. You will start with the "Barrel of the Gun", passing through an atmospheric corridor, and arrive at the open-air "Plaza" with panoramic windows offering an incredible view of the Alps and the glacier road where the famous chase scene was filmed.

In the "Tech Lab", you can examine original gadgets used in filming up close and learn the secrets of creating special effects. Interactive screens allow for a deeper dive into the details of the spy arsenal. Special attention should be paid to the "Action Hall", where the aircraft wreckage from the film "Spectre" is displayed, suspended in space as if the crash had just happened.

Besides viewing the exhibition, be sure to step out onto the outdoor observation deck next to the museum. Here you can take spectacular photos against the backdrop of mountain peaks and see the famous glass cube of the ice Q restaurant, which played the role of the "Hoffler Klinik" in the film. The combination of architecture and nature here is simply mesmerizing.

Getting There

Getting to the "007 ELEMENTS" installation is a small adventure in itself, as the object is located on a mountain peak that cannot be reached by a regular car. The journey begins in the valley, at the bottom station of the Gaislachkoglbahn cable car, located at Dorfstraße 115.

You will have to make the ascent in two stages. First, you board a cabin at the bottom station and go up to the middle station. There, you need to transfer to the next section of the cable car, which will take you straight to the summit, to an altitude of over 3,000 meters, where the entrance to the museum is located.

If you arrived in Sölden by car, you can leave it in the spacious parking lot at the foot of the lift. For those using public transport, the bottom cable car station is easily accessible by local buses running through the Ötztal valley.

History & Facts

The idea of creating "007 ELEMENTS" arose after the filming of the 24th James Bond movie, "Spectre," key winter scenes of which were shot right here in Sölden. Director Sam Mendes and the producers were so impressed by the futuristic architecture of the ice Q restaurant and the rugged beauty of the mountains that they decided to immortalize the connection between Agent 007 and this location.

The building project was developed by architect Johann Obermoser, who also designed the neighboring ice Q restaurant and the cable car stations. Construction at an altitude of over 3,000 meters became a real challenge: engineers had to literally cut concrete structures into the permafrost. Interestingly, the building is designed to maintain a natural internal temperature of about 1°C, which is necessary for ground stability.

The opening of the complex took place in July 2018. The exhibition was curated by Neal Callow, art director of several Bond films, which guaranteed the authenticity of every detail of the interior and atmosphere.

Time Needed

For a full immersion into the world of James Bond and to view all the exhibition halls, most visitors need from 1 to 2 hours. This time allows you to leisurely study the interactive stands, watch video materials, and enjoy the views.

However, it is worth considering logistics time: the ascent and descent on the cable car will take additional time. If you plan to combine the visit with lunch at the neighboring restaurant or a photo session on the observation deck, it is better to allocate about half a day for the trip.

Working Hours

The opening hours of "007 ELEMENTS" are closely tied to the schedule of the Gaislachkoglbahn cable car, as this is the only way to get to the summit. Usually, the complex is open to visitors during the daytime while the lifts are operating.

Since the schedule may change depending on the season (winter or summer) and weather conditions, we strongly recommend checking the current opening hours on the official website before planning your trip.

Nearby

Exploring the summit of Gaislachkogl does not end with a visit to the museum. This location offers a unique combination of haute cuisine, breathtaking panoramas, and opportunities for active recreation that will perfectly complement your day.
