Haikou experiences a warm climate year-round; however, temperature regimes change noticeably depending on the season. The annual temperature course shows that the hottest months are June and July. In June, the average temperature reaches 29.8°C, and maximum daytime values can rise to 32.3°C. July is not far behind, with an average temperature of 29.6°C and a maximum of 32.1°C. The coolest months are considered to be January and December. In January, the average temperature is 19.2°C, with minimum night temperatures around 17.2°C, and in December, the average temperature holds at 19.7°C, with minimums down to 17.9°C.

Thus, in late autumn, winter, and early spring, the probability of precipitation in Haikou decreases significantly, and if rains do occur, they are usually very light.

In the so-called dry and cooler season, which lasts approximately from November to March, temperatures usually range from 17-18°C at night to 25-26°C during the day, and daily averages are around 19-24°C. At this time, you will find t-shirts, light long-sleeved shirts, trousers, or shorts useful. In the evening or on cooler days (especially in January and December, when the temperature can drop to 17-18°C), a light jacket, sweater, or cardigan will not be amiss. Although there is little rainfall during this period, a compact umbrella or a light windbreaker in case of rare rain will not hurt, especially since the number of rainy days can still reach from 5 to 10 per month.

From May to October, a hot and humid rainy season arrives in Haikou. Predominantly from May to September, the air temperature often rises above 30°C, and the number of rainy days increases significantly, peaking in July-August (up to 20-22 days with precipitation). During this period, choose the lightest, most breathable clothing made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen.
