From June to September, the air warms up significantly, and even nights do not bring substantial coolness — at the peak of the season (July-August), the night temperature does not drop below 24°C. Winter here is very comfortable and more resembles a European autumn: in December and February, the air warms up to a pleasant 14–15°C during the day, creating excellent conditions for sightseeing without the need to bundle up in warm clothes.

Transitional seasons, such as April and October, delight with the most pleasant weather with average values around 20–21°C. Travellers should take into account moderate daily temperature fluctuations: the difference between the daily maximum and nightly minimum throughout the year is usually about 8–9 degrees. October, December, and January are the driest months, when a minimal amount of moisture falls (about 1–2 mm), and the number of inclement days decreases to 7–8. Given the region's mild climate, even in winter precipitation falls mainly in the form of rain, so snowfalls in Sanming are an extremely rare phenomenon.

When getting ready for Sanming, consider the humid subtropical climate of this region. For a trip during the summer months, when the temperature often rises above 30°C, be sure to bring clothes made of light natural fabrics, such as cotton or linen, to let your body breathe. Do not forget reliable sun protection: a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are necessary, especially in July and August. Given the high probability of precipitation, especially in spring and June, a compact umbrella or a light raincoat should be in your luggage at any time of the year.

Winter and late autumn are quite mild here, and the thermometer rarely drops below 6°C even on the coldest January nights. You will hardly need heavy down jackets, but the principle of layering will be very useful. It is recommended to take a warm sweater, a fleece jacket, and a windbreaker or a light mid-season jacket. This will allow you to feel comfortable both on a cool morning and during a warmer day, removing or adding layers of clothing as needed.

For long walks around the city and picturesque surroundings, choose comfortable, proven flat-soled shoes — trainers or trekking boots are ideal. If your trip falls in spring or early summer, when the number of rainy days is at its maximum (up to 20 days a month), preference should be given to waterproof footwear.
