Place Bellecour is the beating heart of Lyon and one of the largest pedestrian squares in Europe. Located in the center of France, on the Presqu'île peninsula, it impresses with its size: 310 meters long and 200 meters wide. This vast open space serves as the main meeting point for locals and the starting point for exploring the city, creating a striking contrast with the narrow streets of Old Lyon.
The square is not only an important transport hub but also an open-air cultural center. Throughout the year, it hosts city festivals, concerts, fairs, and exhibitions. In winter, the square transforms into a magical place with festive decorations and an ice rink, while in other seasons, a large Ferris wheel is often installed here, offering breathtaking views of the city.

In the center of Place Bellecour stands the majestic equestrian statue of King Louis XIV, created by sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot. This monument is the main symbol of the square. Additionally, in the western part of the square, you can find a touching monument to the famous Lyon native — writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and his Little Prince. Surrounded by elegant buildings, shops, and cafes, Place Bellecour is the perfect place to feel the rhythm of the city and begin your journey through Lyon.
