What to Do

The main reason to stop by is the magnificent brunch and breakfast options that blend "grandma's kitchen" traditions with modern trends. Be sure to try tsoureki (traditional sweet bread), classic strapatsada (scrambled eggs with tomatoes), or aromatic spanakopita (spinach pie). Those with a sweet tooth will surely remember the delicate rose jam.

The menu features a wide selection of Mediterranean and European dishes, including interesting options for vegetarians and vegans. On a hot day, it's pleasant to refresh yourself with homemade lemonade or traditional Greek cold coffee, and in the evening, move on to signature cocktails and exquisite appetizers.

The atmosphere is versatile: it's equally comfortable to spend time working with a laptop in a quiet corner or meeting up with a large group of friends. The Caravan Cafe is not just about food; it's a space for communication, creativity, and inspiration in the heart of a bustling city.

Getting There

Finding The Caravan Cafe is easy, as it is located in the very center of the city at Vamvaka 3. This is an ideal location for tourists, as the cafe is within walking distance of the city's main landmarks, such as Aristotelous Square or the port.

History & Facts

The history of the building that smells of fresh coffee today began back in 1929. Initially, it was built as a small "seragio" — a traditional inn for travelers and merchants passing through Thessaloniki. From the very beginning, this place was intended for rest and meetings of people from all over the world.

Over the decades, the house has changed many roles but managed to preserve its unique appearance. In 1998, the building was officially recognized as an architectural monument by the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, which saved it from demolition and preserved it for future generations as an important part of the city's heritage.

A new life for the property began in 2001, when the National Bank of Greece leased the building and carried out a thorough restoration. Master craftsmen restored the neoclassical elements of the facade and interior, carefully preserving the spirit of the old city.

Today, The Caravan Cafe occupies the ground floor of this historic house, while the upper floors continue to welcome guests in cozy rooms, carrying on a century-old tradition of hospitality in a modern interpretation.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the atmosphere and cuisine of the establishment, 1–2 hours is usually enough. This time is sufficient for a leisurely brunch with a cup of aromatic coffee and contemplating the interiors of the historic building.

If you plan not only to have a bite but also to work on your laptop or wait for evening cocktails with friends, your visit may last up to 3 hours. In any case, there is no rush here, as the place itself invites thoughtful relaxation.

Working Hours

The cafe opens its doors for early breakfast daily from 08:30 and continues until 20:00. This is an ideal schedule both for those starting their sightseeing day and for those who want to relax after walking around the city.
