Located in the picturesque city of Asahikawa, the Ayako Miura Literature Memorial Museum is a welcoming space dedicated to the life and profound creative legacy of one of Japan's most widely read authors. It is not just an archive, but a vibrant biographical center that introduces guests to the story of a woman whose works have been translated into many of the world's languages.
The museum building features modern architecture and is harmoniously integrated into the landscape of the Foreign Tree Specimen Forest. Inside, you will find a rich collection of personal belongings, manuscripts, and photographs. One of the most touching exhibits is the reconstructed study where Ayako wrote her novels while overcoming physical ailments.
The museum serves as an important cultural bridge, offering information not only in Japanese but also in English and Chinese. Thanks to the efforts of enthusiastic volunteers, the atmosphere here is warm and hospitable, attracting both devoted fans of the novels Hyoten and Shiokari Pass, and those just beginning their journey into Japanese literature.
