Aqua World Ibaraki (Aqua World Ibaraki Prefectural Oarai Aquarium) is one of the most impressive and largest aquariums in Japan. It is located in the scenic resort town of Oarai, right on the Pacific coast at the mouth of the Naka River. This massive marine park covers an area of about 20,000 square meters and is a true gem of Ibaraki Prefecture.

Inside this huge complex, an incredible number of marine residents live—approximately 70,000 creatures representing about 580–600 different species. Here, you can encounter fauna from all over the world: from vibrant tropical fish to inhabitants of cold polar waters, making a visit both educational and exciting for the whole family. The aquarium is especially famous for its shark collection, one of the largest in the country.
The aquarium is housed in a modern seven-story building and is divided into nine thematic zones. Each zone recreates a unique ecosystem, allowing visitors to observe animals in conditions as close as possible to their natural habitat. This is not just an exhibition, but a true immersion into the mysterious underwater world, complemented by spectacular dolphin and sea lion shows.
