The Latvian War Museum (Latvian: Latvijas Kara muzejs), located in the heart of Riga, the capital of Latvia, is one of the country's most important historical museums. Its exhibition comprehensively covers the military history of Latvia, from ancient times to the present day, chronicling the formation and development of the armed forces. It is a place where pages of the past come to life, offering visitors a deep dive into the events that shaped the nation.

Since 1919, the museum has occupied a special site—the famous Powder Tower (Pulvertornis), one of the city's oldest surviving fortifications, built in the 14th century. The tower itself is a witness to many historical events and provides the museum with a unique atmosphere. Walking through its halls is not just an inspection of exhibits, but a real journey through time.
In 1940, a new, purpose-built museum building was erected next to the Powder Tower. This impressive red-brick structure, designed by architect Artūrs Galindoms in a neoclassical style, harmoniously complements the historical ensemble. Today, the Latvian War Museum actively participates in international academic life, having been a member of the International Association of Military Museums since 1997, which underscores its significance and the high standard of its collections.
