On the shores of the picturesque Lake Talkša, in the heart of Šiauliai, lies one of the region's most recognizable and creative landmarks — the "Iron Fox" (Geležinė lapė) sculpture. This impressive art object, created by local designer Vilius Puronas, has become a true symbol of modern art that Lithuania is proud of.

The steel figure of the fox was installed at the end of 2009 and immediately drew attention for its scale: it stands 1.20 meters high and reaches nearly a meter in width. Notably, inside the massive structure is a copper capsule containing a message for future generations, making the sculpture not just a waterfront decoration, but a unique vault for the city's memory.
The appearance of the "Iron Fox" coincided with the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the first mention of Lithuania in written sources. The image of this animal was not chosen by chance — the fox embodies wisdom and resourcefulness, qualities highly valued by the residents of Šiauliai. Travelers often compare it to the famous Iron Wolf of Vilnius, noting the unique character and kind irony of the Šiauliai landmark.
