History & Facts

The history of this place is quite remarkable. The fountain was built in 1947 according to the design of architect Viktor Korzh. Interestingly, before its appearance, the Myronosytska Church stood here, which was demolished in the 1930s. After that, the area remained empty for a long time and was even used as a trolleybus depot. Only after the war was the decision made to improve the site by creating a park and building an elegant fountain, which quickly became the city's signature landmark.

There is a legend associated with the creation of the fountain. It is said that the architect was inspired by the "Altanka" gazebo in Kislovodsk. According to this version, Viktor Korzh specifically traveled to the Caucasus to solve the secret of creating the perfectly smooth, "mirror-like" surface of the falling water. One way or another, he managed to achieve a unique effect that gave this famous structure its name.

In 2007, the complex underwent a major reconstruction. The structure itself was updated, and modern colorful lighting was added, which turns the fountain into a real light show after dark. Thanks to this, the Mirror Stream became even more spectacular and attractive, finally cementing its status as one of the main sights of not only Kharkiv, but all of Ukraine.
