What to Do

The main draw of this place is the chance to dive into the world of street sports. Team game enthusiasts will appreciate the six specialized street football courts, where passions always run high. If you prefer individual endurance training, there is a spacious workout spot equipped with modern outdoor fitness machines and pull-up bars.

Adrenaline seekers will find areas here for parkour and skateboarding, designed with all safety requirements in mind. One of the most interesting locations is the pump track — a special circular cycling track perfectly suited for practicing tricks on BMX, scooters, or rollerblades. The lack of flat sections forces riders to use the "pumping" technique over bumps, turning the ride into an exciting attraction.

For those looking for something unusual, the park features a court for panna football — a sport originating from Amsterdam. Here, in a small enclosed space, players compete one-on-one in ball technique, trying to kick the ball between their opponent's legs. Even if you don't plan on playing sports, it is pleasant to simply walk along the renovated alleys, watch the athletes train, or relax on comfortable benches in the shade of the trees.

Getting There

Reaching this popular leisure spot is quite easy, as it is located in the lively Novye Doma district. If you prefer public transport, the most convenient option is the metro. The nearest stations are "Palats Sportu" (Palace of Sports) and "Armeiska". From either station, a walk to the park entrance takes no more than 10–15 minutes along the neighborhood's shady streets.

For those choosing ground transport, numerous minibuses and buses run past the park along Tankopiia Street and Yuryeva Boulevard. The stop is located in the immediate vicinity of the main areas, making the location accessible even for people with limited mobility and parents with strollers.

If you decide to take a taxi from the city center, the ride will take about 15–20 minutes depending on traffic. For drivers, parking is available along Yuryeva Boulevard and on the adjacent streets, allowing you to comfortably leave your car for a long walk.

History & Facts

The history of this site is inextricably linked with the development of the Novye Doma residential area, which began in the 1950s. At that time, the territory consisted of vast agricultural lands belonging to the Kharkiv Breeding Station. It was here that scientific experiments were conducted and new varieties of crops were grown.

The development of these lands and the creation of the residential complex were led by the outstanding scientist, Academician V. Ya. Yuriev. In recognition of his contribution to science and the city's development, the wide boulevard and later the park itself were named in his honor. Initially, the architectural project envisioned the creation of a "green corridor" that would separate neighborhoods and serve as a recreational space for thousands of new residents.

For decades, the park remained a classic Soviet-era square; however, modern urban requirements led to its complete transformation. During a large-scale reconstruction, the territory was turned into an innovative urban park, where the historical name and memory of Academician Yuriev were combined with advanced technologies for organizing public spaces.

Notably, the creation of the modern park managed to preserve the old trees planted back in the middle of the last century. They now provide pleasant shade over ultra-modern sports courts, linking the historical heritage of the area with its active present.

Time Needed

If you just want to stroll along the alleys and enjoy the atmosphere of this modern space, one hour will be quite enough. This is plenty of time to walk the park from end to end, check out the sports locations, and take some vibrant photos against the backdrop of unusual art objects.

However, if you plan to spend time actively — for example, skateboarding, playing football, or trying out the outdoor fitness equipment — we recommend setting aside at least 2–3 hours. The park offers such a diverse infrastructure that time flies by unnoticed, especially if you come with a large group or children.

Working Hours

Yuriev Park warmly welcomes guests 24/7. Thanks to modern lighting, the area remains safe and comfortable for walks even late at night, which is particularly appreciated by evening joggers and those on romantic outdoor dates.

Entry to the territory is completely free. All sports grounds, including the pump track and courts, are available for visiting at any time, seven days a week.
