History & Facts

The history of this area dates back to the 18th century, when it was home to the settlement of a wealthy Cossack named Ivan Manuylovich—the Manuylovka sloboda of the Zaporizhzhia Kish. It is after him that the historical district of Manuylovka was named. Later, in 1922, part of the settlement was named after Pyotr Vorontsov, which is why the park was known for a long time as Vorontsov Park or Kirov Park.

In the mid-20th century, the park was one of the liveliest places in the city. It featured central paths leading to observation decks that offered impressive views of the Merefa-Kherson Bridge. In those days, the area was decorated with amusement rides and small architectural forms, and the absence of modern embankment buildings created a unique sense of closeness to the river.

The landscape underwent significant changes in 1968 during the construction of an overpass over the railway. This led to the dismantling of the old entrance groups and changes to the infrastructure. An interesting fact is that until 1961, a monument to Taras Shevchenko stood here, emphasizing the park's cultural significance for the citizens. The modern name "Manuylovsky" returns the site to its historical roots.

Time Needed

To take a leisurely stroll through the alleys and enjoy the river landscapes, 1–2 hours is usually sufficient. This is enough time to explore the main locations, take some memorable photos, and breathe in the fresh air away from the city bustle.

If you are planning a full-day getaway, including a picnic on the grass or visiting the beach area during the warm season, it is worth setting aside from 4 hours to half a day. Manuylovsky Park invites long, contemplative relaxation, especially during sunset when the sun drops spectacularly below the horizon over the river.

Working Hours

The park is an open public space and is accessible for visits 24/7, daily. Regardless of the day of the week, you can come here early in the morning for a run or late in the evening to admire the city lights reflecting in the water.

As the official operating hours of individual facilities within the park (such as seasonal cafes or rental points) may change, visitors are encouraged to check for current information on official city resources or establishment websites before visiting.
