The temperature in Da Lat will delight those who prefer moderate warmth. The average annual temperature stays around +21°C, making the city one of the most comfortable places in Vietnam. April and May are considered the hottest months, when daytime highs can reach +30°C; however, even then, evenings bring a welcome cool-down with temperatures around +20°C.

The winter period, falling in December and January, is the most refreshing time of year. A typical scenario is an intense but usually brief downpour in the afternoon, after which the sky often clears.

From November to May, the dry season takes hold of the region. January and February are the driest months, when rain is extremely rare and precipitation is minimal. During this time, stable clear weather sets in, which is ideal for long excursions and hiking. Despite the heavy rains in the summer, the altitude ensures that roads dry quickly, so humidity rarely becomes an issue for tourists.

When planning a trip to Da Lat, the main principle of your wardrobe should be layering. For daytime walks in Vietnam at any time of year, light clothing made of natural fabrics such as cotton or linen is ideal. However, given the highland chill, be sure to bring a windbreaker, a hoodie, or a light jumper—they will be useful in the early morning and after sunset, when temperatures can drop significantly.

If your trip falls during the rainy season (June to October), essential items include a compact raincoat or umbrella, as well as closed-toe shoes with good grip for wet trails. To protect yourself from the intense mountain sun during the dry period, don't forget sunscreen with a high SPF, a hat, and sunglasses.
