Travel Tips

To ensure your trip to Guangyuan is as comfortable as possible, it is worth noting a few local features in advance. Here is a list of practical recommendations for travelers:

  1. Clothing and weather. The climate in Sichuan can be humid and changeable. It is recommended to bring comfortable walking shoes and clothing that can be layered, as well as a raincoat.
  2. Transport. It is convenient to use taxis to move around the city. Be sure to carry a hotel card or the destination name written in Chinese characters for the driver.
  3. Finances. The main currency is the Chinese Yuan. International cards are not accepted everywhere, so it is better to have a supply of cash or set up Alipay/WeChat Pay.
  4. Health. Drink only bottled water and avoid drinks with ice in street establishments. Assemble a small first-aid kit, as familiar medicines may be difficult to find.
  5. Communication. English is not widely spoken here. Download an offline translator with a photo translation function to your smartphone in advance.
  6. Local etiquette. Be polite and reserved. When handing over business cards or money, use both hands — this is considered a sign of respect.
  7. What to avoid. Do not photograph people without permission and try not to touch upon sensitive topics in conversations. Be careful when crossing roads.
  8. Culinary. Local cuisine is famous for its spiciness. If you are not accustomed to hot dishes, request your meal "bu la" (not spicy) when ordering.

Compliance with these simple rules will help you avoid everyday difficulties and fully enjoy the atmosphere of this unique Chinese city.
