What to Do

The main thing to do at MILK is to immerse yourself in the world of signature mixology. The venue's drink menu is famous for its creative cocktails, each possessing a unique flavor and served with aesthetic flair. Watching the bartenders work becomes a show in itself, and tasting drinks on the terrace or in the stylish lounge makes for a perfect start to the evening.

Music and dance lovers will find this an excellent spot to relax. DJs perform regularly at the club, playing trending tracks and creating an energetic backdrop for socializing and fun. Themed parties and drag performances are frequently held, adding vibrancy and theatricality to Dubrovnik's nightlife.

It is also an ideal place for socializing. Thanks to the venue's friendly and inclusive policy, it is easy to meet travelers from all over the world here. You can simply relax on the soft sofas, enjoying the atmosphere of freedom, or join the lively crowd at the bar.

Getting There

MILK is located in the very heart of Dubrovnik's Old Town, which is a strictly pedestrian zone. Since car traffic is prohibited inside the fortress walls, you cannot reach the entrance directly by taxi or bus. You can look forward to a pleasant walk along the picturesque cobbled streets.

If you are taking a taxi or transfer from another part of the city or the airport, ask the driver to drop you off at Pile Gate or Ploče Gate. These are the main entrances to the Old Town. From Pile Gate, the walk to the bar takes about 5–10 minutes: simply walk down the main street, Stradun, and turn into one of the side streets towards Ul. Marojice Kaboge.

For those using public transport, most Dubrovnik city buses also arrive at the stop near Pile Gate. This is the main transport hub connecting the historic center with the Lapad, Gruž, and Babin Kuk districts. From the bus stop, just follow the flow of people inside the fortress walls.

History & Facts

Although MILK is a modern hotspot, its opening was an important milestone in the social history of Dubrovnik. The venue opened its doors in May 2022, becoming the first official gay bar within the historic walls of the Old Town. This event marked a new stage in the development of inclusive tourism in a region that has traditionally been considered quite conservative.

The bar's name was not chosen by chance and carries deep meaning. It is a tribute to Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man elected to public office in the state of California (USA). Harvey Milk was a renowned activist and champion of human rights, and by naming the venue in his honor, the owners emphasized their commitment to the ideals of equality and freedom of self-expression.

Interestingly, opening such a venue in a UNESCO-protected city required meticulous design planning. The interior was created with respect for the building's historical heritage, combining ancient stonework with modern decor elements, creating a unique dialogue between Dubrovnik's centuries-old history and contemporary entertainment culture.

Time Needed

It is usually worth setting aside a whole evening to visit MILK. This place is conducive to leisurely relaxation, so guests often spend 2 to 4 hours here. Time flies by unnoticed while tasting cocktails and socializing in the pleasant atmosphere.

If you plan to drop by just for "one drink" before dinner or after a walk, an hour might suffice. However, given the venue's popularity and frequent entertainment programs, many visitors prefer to stay until late at night, enjoying the music and the vibe of the city after dark.

Working Hours

When planning your visit, please note that the opening hours of MILK vary depending on the day of the week. The venue is closed on Mondays, which should be taken into account when creating your itinerary.

On other days, the club opens in the evening and stays open until late at night. From Tuesday to Thursday, as well as on Sunday, operating hours are from 21:00 to 02:00. On Friday and Saturday, the party starts an hour earlier — from 20:00 — and continues until 02:00.
