Market Square (Marktplatz) is the beating heart of the ancient city of Goslar and one of the most picturesque squares in Germany. Located in the center of the historical part of the city, it acts as a time machine, transporting visitors to the Middle Ages. The square is surrounded by magnificently preserved half-timbered and stone buildings, many of which were built as early as the 12th–15th centuries, creating a unique atmosphere.

The architectural ensemble of the square is impressive in its diversity and historical value. Here stands the Gothic Town Hall with its famous Hall of Homage, and opposite it is the luxurious Kaiserworth building, a former merchant guild house that is now a hotel. Every building on the square has its own unique history and architectural features that can be admired for hours.
In the center of the square stands its main symbol—the Market Fountain (Marktbrunnen), topped with a gilded eagle, the coat of arms of Goslar. Cobblestones radiate from the fountain, emphasizing the central importance of this spot. Market Square is not just a landmark but a vibrant public space where fairs and festivals are held, and it serves as the perfect starting point for discovering the treasures of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
