The uniqueness of GAMeC lies not only in its collections but also in the building itself. The gallery is housed in a meticulously restored 15th-century architectural complex that formerly served as the Dimesse and Servite monastery. At the end of the 20th century, the building was completely restored, with special attention paid to preserving its historical appearance and neoclassical style, which creates a special atmosphere for experiencing art.
The gallery's exhibition area is about 1,500 square meters. The core of the GAMeC collection consists of works by Italian artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, allowing visitors to trace the development of modern art in the country. The collection is also enriched by generous donations from private collectors in the Bergamo region, making the gallery not just a museum, but a living cultural center reflecting the artistic tastes and traditions of the area.
