Citadel Park (Park Cytadela) is the largest urban park in Poznań, stretching across approximately 100 hectares north of the historical center. It is not just the city's "green lungs" and a favorite recreation spot, but also a living monument to the history of Poland. The park was established on the site of the former Fort Winiary—the most powerful 19th-century defensive fortification, which was once part of the Poznań Fortress. Today, it is a unique space where nature, art, and history blend harmoniously.

Strolling through the shaded alleys, you will discover traces of the past: fragments of the former fortifications have been preserved within the park. These now house two significant museums—the Museum of Armament and the Museum of the Army "Poznań," both branches of the Wielkopolska Museum of Independence. Outdoor and indoor exhibitions tell the military history of the city and the region, attracting history buffs from all over the world.
In addition to historical sites, Citadel Park is famous for its landscape compositions, a rose garden, and numerous sculptures. One of the most famous is the installation "The Unrecognized" by the world-renowned artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, consisting of 112 cast-iron figures. The park is also an important memorial site with several military cemeteries. It is an ideal place for leisurely walks, family vacations, and getting to know the multifaceted history of Poznań.
