The oldest and perhaps most charismatic witness to the history of Palencia is the Puentecillas Bridge. Located on the left bank of the Carrión River, it is not merely a crossing, but a true symbol of continuity between eras, connecting the historic center with the picturesque natural island of Sotillo de los Canónigos.

This monumental stone structure in Spain is known for its elegant semi-circular arches, which acquired their current appearance during a Renaissance-era reconstruction. Due to its exceptional value, the bridge was officially declared a Property of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 2008.
Today, thanks to a high-quality restoration carried out in the early 21st century, the Puentecillas Bridge greets tourists in excellent condition. Its proximity to such grand monuments as Palencia Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace makes it a mandatory stop on any traveler's itinerary through Castile.
