Imagine a place where the industrial power of the past is transformed into a fascinating journey through the world of technology and human stories. The Energy Museum (La Fábrica de Luz), located in the city of Ponferrada, is a unique cultural and scientific space housed in a former thermal power plant. Situated in the heart of Spain, this site has become a symbol of the industrial revival of the El Bierzo region.

The museum occupies the territory of the old MSP station, which operated from 1920 to 1971. The central role in the exhibition is given to coal — the resource that forever changed the lives of local residents and the landscape of the León province. The building has retained its original appearance: visitors can see authentic turbines, boilers, and giant conveyors, all highlighted by striking modern lighting.
The museum's restoration project received international recognition, winning the Europa Nostra award in 2012, and in 2015, it was a nominee for European Museum of the Year. It is not just an exhibition of old machines, but an interactive experience that allows you to understand how electricity was generated in the early 20th century and the price people paid for technical progress.
