What to Do

The main draw for guests is the luxurious 1,000-square-meter spa center. It offers the perfect conditions for wellness: you can visit the Turkish bath, the sauna, experience the unusual sensations of the "emotional shower," or swim in the indoor and outdoor pools. The center provides a wide range of services—from professional massage and hydrotherapy to exclusive aesthetic treatments and therapeutic mud applications.

For those who enjoy an active lifestyle, there is a modern fitness center where private training sessions can be booked. Those wishing to explore the surroundings can head out on a mountain bike excursion to discover the breathtaking trails of Ticino. Equally interesting is a visit to the resort’s own vineyard, where local wine tastings are organized, allowing you to appreciate the rich flavors of the region.

Culinary experiences are rounded off at the Casa Milano restaurant. Its concept is built on Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes prepared using the freshest ingredients grown in the resort's own organic garden. Evenings are best spent on the terrace, watching the setting sun paint the Alps in shades of pink, creating a unique backdrop for an exquisite dinner.

History & Facts

The history of this location dates back to 1913, when a magnificent sanatorium called "Deutsches Haus" was built on the hill. Designed by the talented Swiss architect Edwin Wipf, the building was originally intended as a high-class medical and wellness facility.

Its true heyday came in the 1920s under the management of Dr. Hans Alexander. His wife put a great deal of effort into transforming the surrounding area into an exquisite botanical garden. During that time, the resort was a hub of cultural life: it hosted concerts, operated its own radio station, and even published its own magazine, "Die Terrasse," which brought together the European intellectual elite.

After closing in 1969, the building stood abandoned for over thirty years, becoming a sort of refuge for artists and creative youth, which added an air of mystery and bohemian spirit to the site. A new chapter began in 2004 when entrepreneur Silvio Tarchini purchased the property for a large-scale reconstruction.

The resort took on its modern appearance in March 2013, when it officially reopened after restoration. The restorers successfully preserved the historical charm of early 20th-century architecture while enhancing it with the latest in comfort and luxury technology.

Time Needed

While a few hours might suffice to simply get to know the grounds and architecture of the complex, this place is designed for leisurely enjoyment. Most travelers stay here for at least 2-3 days to fully appreciate the benefits of the spa program and enjoy the tranquility of the park.

If your goal is deep relaxation and complete rejuvenation, a week-long stay would be the optimal choice. This is enough time to complete a course of treatments, explore the wine list from the private vineyard, and take several walks to the lake or into the mountains. There is no need to rush here, as the very atmosphere of the resort encourages you to slow down the pace of life.

Working Hours

As befits a high-end hotel, the resort welcomes guests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The reception desk and main guest services operate 24/7, ensuring visitor comfort at any time of day or night.

However, the operating hours of specific facilities, such as the spa center, pool, or Casa Milano restaurant, may vary depending on the season. Before your visit, it is recommended to check the current schedule on the resort's official website to plan your treatments and dinners in advance.
