If you want to experience the authentic atmosphere of the Ottoman era, be sure to visit the Iskender Pasha Mansion. This magnificent historical building is located in the heart of the ancient Suriçi district, which Diyarbakır is famous for. Built in the mid-16th century, the mansion is one of the most striking examples of civil architecture characteristic of southeastern Turkey.

The building is constructed from local black basalt, giving it a monumental and austere appearance typical of the region. The mansion features a characteristic L-shape and includes a spacious courtyard decorated with fountains and surrounded by a shady garden with centuries-old plane trees. Today, this site is recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage and serves not only as a museum but also as a cozy space for relaxation.
For travelers, the mansion is interesting for its excellent state of preservation: here, you can see the surviving women's quarters of the house (haremlik) and appreciate the intricate stone carvings. Today, the historical monument houses a cafe where you can enjoy traditional drinks surrounded by walls that witnessed the heyday of the Ottoman Empire.
