The main feature of the park is its artistic design. Amazing wooden sculptures created by local master Mykhailo Shyrinkin are scattered throughout the territory. Characters from favorite cartoons and myths, decorated with mosaics and painting, literally come to life among ancient trees, turning an ordinary walk into a journey through the pages of fairytales.

Today, this place serves not only for relaxation but is also an important cultural space. It features modern play zones, vibrant flower beds, and an open stage. Thanks to its high rating and the love of the locals, the park remains one of the most popular locations for those seeking tranquility and inspiration in the center of a bustling city.

What to Do

The Children’s Park offers many opportunities for both active and contemplative recreation. Little visitors will be delighted by the "Fortetsia" play complex and the fairytale cottage where they can climb and play for hours. The "Clearing of Fairytales" is a real hit, where the company of wooden heroes and alpine slides sparks children's imaginations.

Adult guests can enjoy the aesthetics of landscape design while relaxing on comfortable benches in the shade of thick canopies. In the warm season, the park turns into a bright carpet of flowers, and the working drinking fountain provides welcome coolness. It is an ideal place for a family picnic or a quiet read in the fresh air.

If your visit coincides with holidays or weekends, you might catch a theatrical performance or a concert on the summer stage. Quests for youth and open-air children's plays are often organized here, making the park's atmosphere lively and festive in any season.

History & Facts

The history of this picturesque spot began in 1902. At that time, the site of the current park was a wasteland purchased by entrepreneur Ivan Yarovoy and his sister Anna. They transformed the abandoned area into a luxurious flower and fruit garden, later building a theater and an orchestra pavilion, creating a popular spot for high-society recreation.

In the early 20th century, the park developed rapidly: it featured a cinema and even hosted circus wrestling tournaments. However, after nationalization in 1919 and the hardships of the 1940s, the territory fell into decline—trees were cut down and buildings were destroyed. Restoration only began in 1946, when the city started reviving its green zones.

The park began to take on its modern appearance in the 1980s. That was when the famous "Fortetsia" (Fortress) playground and the fairytale wooden sculptures by master Mykhailo Shyrinkin appeared. In the early 1990s, the site officially received its current name—the "Children’s Park," finally establishing its status as the city's main destination for family leisure.

Time Needed

To take a leisurely stroll through the shaded alleys and look at all the fairytale figures, 1 to 2 hours is usually enough. This time allows for a calm walk around the area, a small photo shoot with the sculptures, and a brief rest on a bench surrounded by flowers.

If you are planning a visit with children, it is worth setting aside at least half a day. Young guests will surely want to spend time on the playgrounds, explore "Fortetsia," or participate in events on the summer stage, making the visit more engaging and long-lasting.
