Current Weather

Planning a trip to Yanjiang? In this section, you will find the latest information on current weather conditions and detailed forecasts to help you perfectly plan your visit to this corner of China.

Overview

The climate of Yanjiang is typical of the scenic Sichuan Basin in China. The area is dominated by a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by high humidity and a mild but distinct change of seasons. The city is known for its fairly hot, muggy summers and short, moderately mild winters.

One of the key features of the local landscape is the abundance of cloud cover and fog, especially during the cold period. Precipitation is unevenly distributed throughout the year: the main peak occurs in the summer months, while winter remains relatively dry. Overall, the weather conditions here favor lush vegetation and create a comfortable atmosphere for travel during the shoulder seasons.

Temperature

Temperatures in Yanjiang remain fairly moderate throughout the year. Traditionally, January is the coldest month, with an average of around +7.8°C. Despite the high humidity, true frosts are extremely rare here, making winter in the region quite mild. At night, the thermometer can drop to +4...+5°C, so some light layers are still necessary.

With the arrival of summer, the heat becomes noticeable, peaking in August. At this time, the average daytime temperature is around +32.4°C, but due to the subtropical humidity, the air can feel much more sweltering. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant periods to visit, when daytime temperatures range from a comfortable +15°C to +24°C, and daily fluctuations remain smooth and pleasant for tourists.

Precipitation

Precipitation in Yanjiang has a pronounced seasonal character, directly dependent on the monsoons. The true rainy season arrives in summer, reaching its peak in July. This month sees a record amount of moisture—more than 270 mm—and the number of rainy days can reach twenty. Summer precipitation often takes the form of intense downpours with thunderstorms, which, however, quickly give way to clearing skies.

In contrast, the winter months are considered the driest. In January and February, rain is rare—averaging only 4–5 days per month—and the total amount of precipitation is minimal. However, this period is characterized by high humidity and frequent fogs, which can cause the sky to remain overcast for long periods. Spring and autumn serve as transitional periods when the amount of rain gradually increases or decreases, providing fairly comfortable conditions for walking.

Packing Tips

When packing for Yanjiang in the summer months, be sure to bring clothes made of light, breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. Due to high humidity and temperatures reaching +30°C and above, it is important to stay comfortable. Don't forget a quality umbrella or a light raincoat—heavy downpours occur quite often in July and August. Sunglasses and a hat will also be useful.

For a trip in the winter or during the shoulder seasons, it is best to follow the principle of layering. Although this part of China does not experience severe frosts, the humidity and fog can make +8°C feel much cooler. A warm sweater, a windbreaker, and a scarf will be excellent additions to your wardrobe. Pay special attention to comfortable, waterproof shoes that will allow you to walk around the city in comfort, whatever the weather.
