The park's territory is impressive in scale, spanning 150 hectares. It was founded on a natural woodland where coniferous and deciduous trees grow side by side, creating a healing microclimate. This is more than just a forest; it is a thoughtfully designed space that serves as a link between residential districts, offering citizens peace and solitude.

Today, the park attracts visitors with its versatility. Here, you can find wild trails for meditative walks as well as well-maintained alleys with lighting, gazebos, and sports facilities. The park is ideal for those seeking quiet relaxation surrounded by nature without leaving the city limits.

What to Do

The main reason to visit this park is to connect with nature. Strolls along long paved alleys, which are fully illuminated in the evening, allow you to enjoy the forest freshness at any time of day. For those who prefer more secluded relaxation, cozy gazebos and pavilions are scattered throughout the territory, perfect for family picnics or meeting up with friends.

For those who prefer active leisure, the park is equipped with modern sports facilities and playgrounds. Both children and adults can enjoy the amusement rides, which add a touch of energy to the peaceful forest landscape. The presence of food stalls allows you to grab a snack or a cup of tea without interrupting your time in the fresh air.

Watching the seasons change is a special pleasure: from the vibrant green of deciduous trees in summer to the snow-covered evergreen branches in winter. Thanks to the absence of city noise, you can hear birdsong and truly relax, recharging your batteries after a long work week.

Getting There

The attraction is conveniently located in the western part of the city, in a suburban forest zone. The main landmarks for travelers are Dokuchaeva, Lesnaya, and Pionerskaya streets, as well as the television center and the "Mordovia" State Television and Radio Company building.

You can get here by public transport heading to the "Telecenter" stop or towards the bus station, from which the park is within walking distance. An extensive network of minibuses and buses makes it easy to reach from any part of the city.

If you value comfort, a taxi ride from the city center will take no more than 10–15 minutes. For drivers, parking is available near the main entrances to the forest park area.

History & Facts

The history of this green expanse began in 1978 when it was officially opened to the public. However, preparation of the territory started much earlier: back in February 1972, the executive committee approved an ambitious project developed by specialists from the "Giprokommunstroy" Institute.

The creation of the park was a true community effort. For several years, employees of the "Zelenstroy" department and thousands of dedicated residents worked in the suburban forest, transforming a wild grove into a well-maintained recreation spot. It is thanks to this collective labor that Saransk gained one of its largest recreational zones.

On its 150-hectare area, the natural landscape was harmoniously combined with elements of urban infrastructure. Since its opening on July 1, 1978, the park has become an integral part of the region's cultural life, while maintaining the appearance of an untouched forest near urban neighborhoods.

Time Needed

For a standard visit, including a leisurely stroll along the main alleys and relaxing in one of the gazebos, it is recommended to set aside 2–3 hours. This is enough time to feel the atmosphere of the place and enjoy the fresh air.

However, given the impressive area of 150 hectares, lovers of long hikes and deep immersion in nature may need 4–5 hours. If you plan to have a picnic or actively use the sports grounds, it is better to plan for half a day to take your time and fully unwind from the city noise.

Working Hours

The park maintains a very welcoming schedule: it is open to visitors 24/7. This allows guests to admire nature at dawn or during late walks along the illuminated alleys, regardless of the day of the week.

Despite the 24/7 access to the territory, the operation of amusement rides and food stalls may depend on weather conditions and the season. It is recommended to check for up-to-date information on the city's or park's official resources before your visit.
