The majestic Cathedral of St. Theodore Ushakov is a signature landmark that Saransk proudly presents to its guests. This grand temple, built in the Empire style with elements of Byzantine architecture, is considered one of the most massive religious structures for which modern Russia is famous.

Located in the heart of the city on Cathedral Square, the church impresses with its capacity—up to three thousand people can be under its vaults at the same time. The cathedral was consecrated in honor of the renowned Russian fleet admiral, Theodore Ushakov, whose life and deeds became an example of spiritual service to the homeland. The central dome, including the cross, reaches a height of 62 meters, making it a prominent landmark visible from various parts of the city.
Inside the cathedral, an atmosphere of solemn tranquility prevails. The main shrine here is a reliquary containing particles of the holy relics of St. Theodore Ushakov, visited daily by hundreds of pilgrims. In addition to the worship halls, the lower level of the cathedral hosts a unique photo exhibition telling the story of the construction stages and the most significant events in the life of the diocese.
