The majestic Obelisk of Glory, towering over the Volga bank, is the primary memorial complex and a point of pride for Ulyanovsk. Erected in 1975 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Victory, this 47-meter monument has become an essential landmark that every visitor to the city and to Russia in general seeks to visit.

The monument is a five-sided stele topped with a bright star within a laurel wreath. The architectural composition is masterfully divided into two levels: the upper platform is dedicated to the triumph of life and Victory, while the lower one is for quiet mourning of the fallen soldiers. At the base of the obelisk, the Eternal Flame burns, and capsules containing soil brought from Hero Cities are embedded in the foundation.
Its location on a high slope makes this spot ideal for viewing the surroundings. The memorial's platforms offer breath-taking panoramic views of the vast expanses of the Kuybyshev Reservoir, making a visit to the obelisk interesting not only from a historical but also from an aesthetic point of view.
