About

Imagine a breathtaking journey across the oceans without leaving one of the world's most beautiful cities. Kaminature Aquarium is a modern educational and entertainment complex in Seville that offers guests a unique opportunity to explore the planet's biodiversity. Spain is rightfully proud of this project, which covers an area of about 10,000 square meters and houses over 7,000 animals across hundreds of different species in 35 tanks.

The main feature of this place lies in its concept: the tour route completely replicates the legendary first circumnavigation of the globe by Ferdinand Magellan. Visitors begin their journey in the fresh waters of the Guadalquivir River and gradually "sail" across the Atlantic to the Amazon, and then on to the Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions. Each of the five themed zones recreates the ecosystems encountered by the great navigator.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a massive shark aquarium — one of the deepest in the country. It reaches a depth of nearly 9 meters and holds an impressive 2 million liters of water. Thanks to a transparent glass tunnel, guests can find themselves literally face-to-face with majestic predators, sea turtles, and schools of tropical fish, creating a complete sense of immersion into the abyss.

What to Do

A visit to the aquarium is not just about watching fish; it is a true interactive adventure. One of the most popular locations is the "Toca Toca" zone, where, under the supervision of specialists, guests are allowed to gently touch starfish, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers. This is a great opportunity for both children and adults to learn more about the tactile features of marine fauna.

A walk through the glass tunnel under the main tank will provide an unforgettable experience: hammerhead sharks, bull sharks, and huge sea turtles will swim right over your head. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the displays featuring coral reefs and exotic Amazonian reptiles, including alligators that look spectacular in photos.

For the youngest explorers and their parents, special programs are available, such as "Night with Sharks," where children can stay in the aquarium after closing, participate in games, and fall asleep under the slow dance of the fish. After the tour, you can stroll along the embankment or relax in one of the restaurants overlooking the Guadalquivir River, ending your busy day with a pleasant dinner.

Getting There

The attraction is located in the northern part of the city at C. Resolana, 13, and also has a location at C. Astronomía, 10. This makes the site accessible for both those staying in the city center and those exploring the modern districts of Seville. If you are in the historic center, a taxi ride will take no more than 10–15 minutes.

For those who prefer public transport, numerous bus routes serve this area. You can look for stops near Muelle de las Delicias or northern routes heading toward Norte. Many tourists choose to combine a visit to the aquarium with a walk along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, enjoying views of the port and the city's modern architectural designs.

If you are traveling by car, paid parking zones are available in the port area and surrounding streets. Navigation coordinates: 37.4030189, -5.9906359. A walk from iconic landmarks such as Plaza de España or Maria Luisa Park can take about 15 minutes if your route follows the scenic riverfront.

History & Facts

The concept of the Kaminature Aquarium is closely intertwined with the city's great maritime past. The inspiration for the exhibits was Ferdinand Magellan's first circumnavigation of the globe, which began right from the port of Seville in 1519. Visitors literally follow the path of the famous fleet that set out in search of the Spice Islands.

The historical thread runs through all the halls: from the source of the Guadalquivir River to the shores of Brazil, Patagonia, and the distant Philippines. One of the most interesting design details is the detailed model of the legendary ship "Nao Victoria" — the only vessel of the expedition that managed to return home under the command of Juan Sebastián Elcano after three years of perilous wandering.

The aquarium's location on the Muelle de las Delicias embankment emphasizes Seville's unbreakable link with the Age of Discovery. Its proximity to the ancient Golden Tower (Torre del Oro) serves as a reminder of the times when the city was Spain's main "maritime gateway," where treasures and exotic species from all over the world arrived.

Time Needed

For a comfortable tour of all themed zones, most visitors need between 1 and 1.5 hours. This is enough time to follow Magellan's main route and observe the primary inhabitants of the deep sea.

If you plan to study the information stands in detail, take professional photographs, or participate in interactive programs (such as the "Toca Toca" zone), it is recommended to set aside about 2–3 hours for your visit. Families traveling with children may also need extra time for breaks in the rest areas and visiting the themed gift shops.

Working Hours

At the moment, the operation of the Kaminature Aquarium may be limited due to a temporary closure of the site. During normal periods, the aquarium welcomes guests almost daily, approximately from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, though the schedule may vary depending on the season and holidays.

To ensure a successful trip, we strongly recommend checking the current opening hours and ticket availability on the project's official website before planning your visit.
