The pride of the park is its impressive dendrological collection, which includes more than 420 taxa. Here, within the state of Ukraine, plants from the best botanical gardens are gathered, including decorative forms of pine, birch, maple, and exotic olive families. The diversity of flora makes the park interesting to visit at any time of year: from the spring awakening to the golden autumn leaf fall.

Today, the Arboretum is part of the nature reserve fund of the Khmelnytskyi region and is one of the most popular places for family vacations. With a rating of 4.5 stars, it is deservedly considered the "lungs" of the city, combining the aesthetics of landscape design with the richness of wildlife.

What to Do

In the Arboretum, everyone will find something to their liking. The main reason people come here is for long walks among unique trees and shrubs. You can study rare plant species brought from different corners of the world or simply enjoy the fresh air on the shaded alleys. The large park area of 30.5 hectares is ideal for morning jogs, yoga on the grass, or leisurely reading a book on a bench.

Visitors should take note of the Memorial of Glory located at the entrance — it is an important cultural site that adds a touch of historical significance to your walk. Following a reconstruction, the park now features a fountain and modern artificial lighting, which makes evening visits particularly romantic and cozy.

For families with children, the Arboretum is an excellent platform for eco-education. You can watch birds together, for which special feeders are installed in the park, or have a small picnic in designated areas. Photography enthusiasts will find many picturesque locations: from majestic coniferous alleys to bright autumn compositions that serve as a wonderful backdrop for photos.

Getting There

The Arboretum is located in the northern part of the city, at the intersection of Myru Avenue and Starokostiantyniv Highway, covering the Vystavka and Leznevo micro-districts. Thanks to this location, it is easy to reach by both private and public transport.

From the center of Khmelnytskyi, buses and minibuses (marshrutkas) regularly run along Myru Avenue. For those who prefer comfort, a taxi ride from the central squares will take about 10–15 minutes. If you are traveling by car, there are parking spaces provided near the park.

Residents of nearby neighborhoods often come here on foot or by bicycle, as the park area is fully open and adapted for active outdoor recreation.

History & Facts

The history of this green space began in 1964. The foundation for the future park was the regional agricultural exhibition, which in the early 60s demonstrated the region's achievements in animal husbandry and plant growing. It was through the efforts of local foresters — P. Y. Bartashchuk, O. M. Gulyak, and H. M. Tselukin — that the unique collection of woody plants was established.

Over several years, the park was replenished with exotic saplings from the botanical gardens of Ukraine and Moldova. In 1969, the site received the official status of a local monument of landscape architecture, becoming part of the region's nature reserve fund.

In the following decades, the appearance of the arboretum changed. In 1983, the majestic Memorial of Glory was erected at the main entrance, becoming an important cultural and historical landmark. Despite periods of quiet in its development, the park underwent a reconstruction that introduced modern lighting and a fountain, turning it into one of the city's most inviting spots.

Time Needed

To take a leisurely stroll along the main alleys, view the plant collection, and see the memorial complex, 1.5 to 2.5 hours is usually sufficient. This time is enough to enjoy the silence and take beautiful photos against the backdrop of rare trees.

If you are planning a family picnic, a visit to the playgrounds, or a full photo session, it is worth setting aside about 3 hours for your visit. The vast territory of 30.5 hectares allows everyone to find a secluded corner to relax without feeling rushed.
