Over the years of its existence, the garden has accumulated a vast collection of flora, which between 1923 and 1939 was expanded by more than 850 new plant species. In the 1970s, infrastructure development continued with the construction of modern conservatories on the site of unique steppe vegetation plots, allowing for the preservation of even more exotic specimens.

Today, the Lviv University Botanical Garden is recognized as a natural monument and is part of the nature reserve fund.
