The reservoir itself is artificial and covers an impressive area of 300 hectares. The beach attracts visitors with its gentle sandy shore and clean water. For younger guests, a safe shallow-water zone is available, while for diving and fishing enthusiasts, there are deeper sections accessible by boat.

Thanks to its location in a regional landscape park and the "Pronyatin" tract, the air here is always fresh and cool. The beach is officially open for swimming and is highly rated by visitors, making it the main water gem of the region for family trips and summer relaxation.

What to Do

At Distant Beach, everyone will find something to enjoy. The main pleasure here is swimming in the refreshing waters of the pond and sunbathing on the shore. The gentle entrance to the water makes this place an excellent choice for families with children, for whom a special shallow area is designated.

For those who prefer active leisure, boat and catamaran rentals are available. You can head out to the middle of the reservoir for some quiet diving or fishing. Picnics are equally popular here: the Kutkivtsi Forest surrounding the beach provides thick shade, ideal for gatherings with friends in nature.

The journey to the beach is an adventure in itself. We recommend taking the pleasure boat, which runs from the central pier. Such a trip allows you to see the city from the water and enjoy the calm rhythm of lake life, setting the mood for maximum relaxation even before you reach the shore.

Getting There

Daleka Beach is located a significant distance from the central districts, and walking here can be tiring as the pond is about 4 kilometers long. The most popular and picturesque way to get there is by taking a pleasure boat. Boats depart from the central pier in Taras Shevchenko Park (near the "Ternopil" Hotel). The water trip to the beach takes about 25 minutes and allows you to enjoy panoramas of the city from the water.

An alternative option is to take a taxi or drive your own car. There are no direct public land transport routes to the beach, so a car is the only way to reach it by land via the Kutkivtsi microdistrict to the Pronyatin forest tract. A taxi ride from the city center will take approximately 10–15 minutes.

History & Facts

The history of this place is inextricably linked to the creation of Ternopil Pond itself. This enormous artificial reservoir was established in 1951 on the site of marshy land in the Seret River floodplain. In Soviet times, it was called Komsomol Lake, and only in 1992 was the historical name restored. Distant Beach began to be actively developed in the 1960s as a remote recreational area for city residents.

In its prime, a serious infrastructure was established here: a Marine School and a yacht club appeared on the shore, and nearby, vacationers could enjoy a cascade of waterfalls poetically named "Gronsky's Tears." The distance from residential areas allowed the atmosphere of a real forest to be preserved, which has always been valued by the city's residents.

Today, the beach remains one of the few official swimming areas in the city. Despite modern updates, it retains the spirit of old resort Ternopil, where nature and the urban environment have coexisted in harmony for over half a century.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy your rest at Distant Beach, we recommend setting aside 3 to 5 hours. This is enough time to enjoy a pleasant boat ride both ways, swim to your heart's content, and have a small picnic under the shade of the trees.

If you plan on active recreation like renting boats or walking through the Pronyatin forest area, you could easily spend an entire day here. Keep in mind that the boat trip alone takes about an hour of your time (round trip).

Working Hours

Access to the Distant Beach area is open 24/7, as it is a public natural zone. However, visiting during daylight hours is most comfortable. The official swimming season, when lifeguard stations and infrastructure are operational, usually lasts from early June to late August.

It is worth noting that the operation of the pleasure boats, which are the main transport for tourists, depends on daylight and weather conditions. We recommend checking current information regarding the start of the season and the water transport schedule on official city resources or directly at the pier in the city center.

Nearby

Exploring the surroundings of Ternopil Pond can significantly enrich your trip. After relaxing in nature, it is worth returning to the central part of the promenade, where the city's main architectural and cultural monuments are concentrated.
