The majestic silhouette crowning the historical center belongs to one of the city's most recognizable shrines—the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Located in the heart of Ternopil, this monumental church is an outstanding architectural landmark of late European Baroque. The austere lines of the two square towers combined with the elegant central dome create a unique look that has become a symbol of the entire western part of Ukraine.

Built in the second half of the 18th century, the church originally served as a Dominican church. Its facades were once adorned with exquisite statues, and today visitors are greeted by a solemn interior that houses copies of the region's most revered miraculous icons: those of Pochaiv, Zarvanytsia, Ternopil, and Terebovlia. The cathedral is the active seat of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and an important spiritual center.
Beyond its architectural value, the cathedral attracts pilgrims with its relics. Here, you can see the relics of Saint Charbel and other martyrs, as well as a unique artifact—a stone brought from the Holy Land, from the very spot where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. This is a place where history, art, and faith intertwine, offering every guest a moment of peace and inspiration.
