The park is located on the site of the former estate of the Princes Lubomirski. Today, it is a well-maintained area featuring a system of ponds, cozy walking paths, and relaxation zones. The main "gem" of the park is the scenic pond inhabited by swans. Because of these graceful birds, locals often call the park “Lebedynka” or Swan Lake Park.

Hydropark is considered one of the most well-kept recreational areas in the city. It is an ideal space for family picnics, quiet walks, and admiring nature at any time of year. Here, the history of the princely estate harmoniously intertwines with the modern rhythm of life, creating a unique atmosphere of comfort.

History & Facts

The history of modern Hydropark dates back to the distant past when this territory was part of the vast estate of the Princes Lubomirski. This influential family owned Rivne for over 200 years, starting from the 17th century, and it was they who turned the city into a significant cultural and economic center of Volhynia. Their luxurious residence once stood on the site of the park, and the castle was eventually rebuilt into an elegant Rococo-style palace.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the estate was surrounded by magnificent gardens and artificial ponds. The Lubomirski princes paid great attention to landscape design, and the current ponds of Hydropark are a direct legacy of those times. Walking here today, you are literally stepping on ground that served as a retreat for the aristocracy for centuries.

During the Soviet period, as part of a general plan for the improvement of Rivne, the territory along the Ustye River was finally transformed into a public recreation area. Although many buildings of the princely estate have not survived, Hydropark inherited a unique landscape structure that makes it an important monument of landscape architecture and city history.

Time Needed

For a standard introduction to Hydropark, which includes a leisurely stroll along the main paths and swan watching, it usually takes from 1 to 2 hours. This time is quite enough to enjoy the fresh air and take beautiful photos against the backdrop of the water.
